WAXAHACHIE (1080 KRLD) - A North Texas woman has filed a million dollar lawsuit claiming she contracted "fried rice syndrome"

Germaine Mobley filed a $1 million lawsuit against the Asian King buffet restaurant in Waxahachie, claiming she contracted "fried rice syndrome" after eating at the buffet in 2016.

Her illness comes from a bacteria called 'bacillus cereus'. The bacteria is often found on food that's been sitting at room temperature for too long.

Mobley's attorney says days after she ate at Asian King, she was vomiting and had trouble breathing. She ended up in the ICU, hooked up to a ventilator.

In the lawsuit, Mobley claims she spent three months in rehab and that her medical bills exceed $100,000.

The owner of Asian King says their lawsuit does not have enough proof.
