3 Boys Clinging To Life After Being Rescued From Car Fire

April 01, 2019 - 8:49 am

GARLAND (1080 KRLD) - Three little boys from Garland are fighting for their lives this morning after being critically hurt in a car fire.

Officials say the car fire started around 6:00 pm Sunday at a shopping center on south 1st street, east of Garland Ave.

Garland Police say the father of 1-year-old Jayceon, 3-year-old Josiyah and 4-year-old Jackson left them in the car while he went into a Gamestop to try and sell a video game console. He says he did it to try and get some money for the family. When he came back out again, the car was on fire.

The boys' father tells NBC 5 the car wasn't running at the time, and he's not sure what sparked the fire.

An unknown good samairtan helped get all 3 boys out of the burning car.

They're still in Parkland hospital in critical condition.

No charges have been filed at this time, but it's possible the boys' father could face a misdeamor charge for leaving kids younger than age 7 alone for more than a few minutes.

Garland police say this is a reminder that car fires can happen even if a car isn't running.
