ALLEN (1080 KRLD) - They're called the Escadrilles. They're the only high school marching band in Allen and believed to be the largest in the country with 740 members.

Over the years, the Allen Eagle Escadrille has marched in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Dublin, performed in a Macy's Thanksgiving Parade, and marched the Tournament of Roses Parade.

Phil Obado is the band's director and says there are challenges with having such a large band. "You can't put everyone in the same room and rehearse together", said Obado. "Not only is it a lot of people, we have different skill levels so we have to split everybody into ten bands."

Kids in the band say it's not just about being "big" it's also about being good. "in the past we haven't done so well at UIL, we've just been the big band", said one band member. "but the past few years we've been moving up in our placing".

Obado says it's all about community, "It really brings this community together and students are very proud to represent Allen.
