DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Today and tomorrow, Amazon is running its fifth annual Prime Day.

It originally started out as a way for Amazon to celebrate its 20th anniversary, then it became a way for it to convince more people to sign up for Amazon Prime. Now, it's closer to something like Black Friday on the day after Thanksgiving.

One word of advice: "buyer beware" in Prime Day, because some retailers may have already increased the cost for their goods earlier, only to drop them back to normal prices to make them look like they're on sale.

Ben Fox Rubin from CNET says he's heard how some stores do that on Black Friday, but Prime Day does have some real legitimate deals.

For example, an Amazon Echo Dot smart speaker goes for $22 during Prime Day. It's normally $50. The full-sized Echo is half price at $50.

Ancestry.com is selling a DNA test for half price at $50.

Amazon's Ring Doorbell 2 is going for $140, which is $60 off.

A lot of big box stores, like Walmart and Target are running price matching sales for the next 48 hours as well.
