American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing In West Texas

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The crew of an American Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Abilene Wednesday afternoon.

American Flight 4 was headed from Los Angeles International to New York's JFK Airport when smoke was reported in the cockpit.  The crew of the Airbus A321 diverted to Abilene Regional Airport.  After a successful landing, passengers deplaned on the tarmac with no injuries reported.

American's maintenance crews were checking out the issue with the jet.  Passengers are expected to depart Abilene for JFK around 6 p.m. Wednesday.
