DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Yet another company is getting into the scooter game in Dallas.

Lyft is adding electric scooters to the city streets. Much like Uber, Lyft says the scooter renting option will be built into the existing Lyft app, and riders can even reserve a scooter if they'd like.

Lyft scooters will cost $1 to unlock and then 15 cents per minute of use.

Three more companies may join the Dallas market soon. The three have applied for permits, and could soon add a different style of scooter.

Ojo Electric wants to bring up to 100 sit-down scooters. Dallas-based Boaz Bikes, hopes to add 100 electric scooters designed with a seat and an attached helmet. Spin, wants to bring 200 scooters to the market.

Lyft's expansion into the scooter market comes as the company prepares for its initial public offering.
