Letter Threatening Active Shooting Found On UT Southwestern Campus

UPDATE (2:00 p.m.): UT Southwestern says Building E on the south campus has been searched twice and cleared by police. The building has returned to normal operations. 

The school says officers will continue to patrol the building for the remainder of the day. 

DALLAS (KRLD) - The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center got a scare today when a letter threatening an active shooting was found inside a building on campus.

In the first of two message alerts sent to students and staff, the medical school says that the letter was found in building E on the South Campus.

In the second alert, University police say no immediate threats have been identified and that they are continuing to investigate and patrol the campus. Building E has been secured and remains evacuated at this time.

The school asked students and staff to please be aware of their surroundings and immediately report suspicious behavior to the school's police department at 214-648-8911.

The school later sent out a message on Twitter, confirming that a threatening letter was found.
