Area Teams Ranked Heading Into High School Football Playoffs

ALLEN (KRLD) - Undefeated Allen leads a list of more than a dozen North Texas high schools holding top ten state rankings heading into the 2018 playoffs.

In the season's final Associated Press poll released Monday, Allen (10-0) completed a wire-to-wire run at No. 1 in 6A.  Allen will play a bi-district matchup at home against Rowlett Friday night.

Galena Park North Shore (9-0) held onto the second spot in 6A, followed by Converse Judson (9-0), Longview (10-0) and No. 5 Duncanville (9-0).  Duncanville hosts South Grand Prairie Friday night in the playoff opener.  Southlake Carroll (10-0) held at No. 6 in 6A.  The Dragons host Coppell in a bi-district matchup Saturday afternoon.

Haltom finished the regular season at No. 11, while Cedar Hill is 13th.

Just like Allen, 5A No. 1 Aledo (10-0) held the top spot the entire season.  The Bearcats host Seagoville on Thursday.  Two-time defending 5A Division One state champ Highland Park (10-0) remained at No. 2.  The Scots host Frisco Independence Friday evening.  And Denton Ryan (10-0) held on at No. 3 in 5A.  Ryan opens the playoffs Thursday evening against Fort Worth Brewer.

Unbeaten Frisco Reedy (10-0) completed the regular season at No. 9.  Reedy plays Ennis Friday night at The Star in Frisco.

The Colony finished the regular season at No. 17 in 5A.

In Class 4A, Argyle (10-0) remained at No. 2 behind Carthage.  Argyle, one of the favorites in Region Two of 4A Division One, faces Carrollton Ranchview Friday night in bi-district.  No. 6 Midlothian Heritage (9-1) plays Kilgore Friday night  in Forney.  No. 10 Glen Rose (8-1) takes on Aubrey Friday night in Fort Worth.

Stephenville finished the regular season at No. 15 in 4A, with Sunnyvale at No. 17.

In 3A, Gunter (10-0) finished the regular season at No. 2 behind top-ranked Newton.  Gunter takes on Millsap Thursday night in Springtown.  No. 3 Brock (9-1) faces Breckenridge Thursday evening in Abilene.

In Class 2A, Muenster (9-1) ended the regular year at No. 8.  Muenster will play its bi-district matchup against Mount Enterprise Thursday evening in Mabank.
