Arlington Police Release Video From Fatal Officer Involved Shooting

January 18, 2019 - 5:00 am

ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - Arlington police have released body cam video of last week's fatal police shooting.

Police say 20-year-old Tre'Shun Miller was shot and killed as officers chased him when he fled from a traffic stop.

The video appears to show Miller firing on police first, but his family's lawyer disputes that, suggesting the footage is ambiguous.

After seeing the footage Moore told NBC 5 what they saw in the video was inconclusive and that "looking at the officer's body camera you can't see who pulled their gun first and who fired shots first."

Arlington Police Chief Will Johnson contends that the video makes it "pretty clear" that Miller shot first.

"I think it's important for us to maintain a neutral position in terms of us being able to do a thorough investigaton," Johnson said. "We released this body camera and digital evidence at this point in time to address transparency questions within the community, but now we will let investigators complete the thoroughness of the report and subsequently present that for review by the criminal district attorney's office."
