BEDFORD (1080 KRLD) - Bedford Police say a pair of armed holdups Tuesday night may be related to a third incident in mid-January.

Lt. Mike Hager said the two latest robberies happened between 9:40 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at a pair of apartment complexes in the vicinity of Highway 183 and Murphy Drive in Bedford. In each case, female victims were robbed by two men while getting into or out of their vehicles. Hager said, "One of them brandishes a handgun of sorts, and they take personal items such as purses, jewelry and things like that. Then they leave on foot."

Hager said the suspects are described only as black males who had their faces covered.

Bedford Police are checking to see if the recent robberies in their city are related to similar crimes in neighboring cities. Hager said, "At this time, we are not sure if they are connected. But, the detectives definitely are in communication with each other. So, if they are, they should be able to determine so."

After the two holdups in less than an hour Tuesday night, authorities are worried the Bedford robbers could strike again. They are urging residents to be vigilant and protect themselves, especially in parking lots. Anyone with information on the recent holdups is urged to call Bedford police at 817-952-2127.
