WISE COUNTY (1080 KRLD) - A Dallas attorney is offering a $1,000 reward for the return of a gravestone.

Attorney Stratton Horres says it's a "no questions asked" offer for the 1897 marker set up in the Wise County town of Aurora for Ned, The Martian.

The local legend is that an extraterrestrial pilot crashed on April 17, 1897, and that the creature had papers written in indecipherable hieroglyphics. The burial was in Aurora Cemetery, with a marker showing a cigar-shaped aircraft. The town's website includes the story, and a drawing of a UFO has part of the city logo.

Horres hopes the reward will shake loose new clues in the mystery, though he does not necessarily buy into the spaceman theory.

The town of Aurora will host a free tour of the crash site and the grave on April 28th.
