DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Democratic Senate Hopeful Beto O'Rourke hosted a "running town hall" Thursday morning at White Rock Lake in Dallas.

O'Rourke is currently a Congressman in El Paso and is running against Ted Cruz.

A Quinnipiac Poll released Thursday morning shows Cruz has maintained a nine point lead over O'Rourke.

"We've been going to places like UT Dallas, UT Arlington, Tarrant County College and El Centro," O'Rourke told the crowd. "I'll tell you what: none of those people is in anybody's polls right now."

O'Rourke told the crowd he would push for criminal justice reform, saying Texas has the highest rate of incarceration per capita in the country. He also said 200,000 people are living in Texas under the DREAM Act, and he would push to "free those DREAMers from any fear of deportation."

"Are we, the defining border state, going to use that pride of place to make sure that never again is another child taken from another parent seeking asylum in this country?" he said.

Organizers say about 200 people were attending.

The Quinnipiac Poll showed just two percent of likely voters are undecided. Ninety-seven percent of Cruz supporters said they would not change their mind, and 95 percent of people who plan on voting for O'Rourke say they will not make a change.
