GRAND PRAIRIE (1080 KRLD) - Police in Grand Prairie need your help in finding the driver who hit and killed a cyclist yesterday morning.

At around 6:00 Sunday morning, Calvin Middleton, 42, was cycling on northbound Belt Line Rd. when he was rear-ended near I-20.

Sgt. Eric Hansen says the woman who hit him initially kept going.

“She has stopped briefly and then proceeded to continue northbound,” says Sgt. Hansen. “The driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck got in behind it, turned on the bright lights that that particular truck has on it in an effort to get that driver’s attention and hopefully compel them to come back to the scene.”

And that’s what she did, albeit for a brief moment.

“She exited the vehicle, looked at the victim, inquired as to whether he was dead or alive, and then got back into her vehicle and left the scene,” Sgt. Hansen says.

In reviewing surveillance video, police say it appears that she was driving a dark colored 2008 Chevy Malibu.

“The right front headlight is either partially out or completely out as a result of the impact with the bicycle,” says Sgt. Hansen

The woman is described as black, in her late 20s, wearing a pink shirt, khaki shorts and pink tennis shoes.
