Two people are under arrest after US Customs and Border Patrol found 57 pounds of cocaine inside the 2008 BMW SUV.

Officials say the drugs were seized and the case turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for further investigation.

The vehicle was crossing between Mexico and Texas at the Juarez-Lincoln Bridge when it was pulled aside for extra screening by a CPB agent. A drug-sniffing dog and some non-invasive scans revealed 24 packages of cocaine with an estimated street value of $444,720.

The driver, a 40-year-old male, and his passenger, a 43-year-old female, were both arrested. Both are residents of Nuevo Leon in Mexico.

"This seizure was definitely unique and is an example of how officer experience plays a critical role in advancing the CBP mission," said Port Director Albert Flores, Laredo Port of Entry.
