I spoke to Ellie LeBlond Sosa the week before her Grandfather, George H.W. Bush passed away.

Ellie's mother Dorothy and her two children moved into the White House after Dorothy, the youngest Bush child's marriage broke up. That was nearly 30 years ago. Ellie, who is one of 17 Bush grandchildren, was two at the time.

"So we spent a lot of time there. It became like a second home to us. At that time, we really didn't realize how cool and how special it was."

This year, she wrote the book "George and Barbara Bush, A Great American Love Story."  "Everyone in my family really looks up to their relationship. They were in love until the very last day."

She was very close to Barbara Bush. "She was the most loving grandmother. She also had a reputation for being stern, and while that's true, it's only because she was married to my grandfather who couldn't do that kind of thing."

After Barbara passed away in April, the president enjoyed reading Ellie's book and reminiscing about their time together.

"Myself, my mom, a lot of family members over the summer would take the time to sit and read with him.  It was really special to see him remembering those moments he had with my grandmother."

She says her family read the book to him three or four times over the course of the summer.

"A couple of times either I or someone who helped him walked in and he was reading it by himself and looking at the pictures. To have my grandfather be able to read it and remember his life with her was really special."
