DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The Dallas mayor's race is getting hot, as two more people plan to run for the soon-to-be-empty seat.

Current mayor Mike Rawlings is reaching the end of his term limits, so he won't be running for re-election.

Former Dallas city attorney Larry Casto is throwing his hat in the ring, and so is lawyer Regina Montoya. They join former Dallas Housing Authority chair Albert Black Jr. as the only mayoral candidates thus far.

The race is non partisan, but Montoya's previous work for the Clinton administration makes her a recognizable figure among North Texas Democrats. Casto was instrumental in negotiating the fix for the broken Dallas police and fire pension system. Montoya promises to campaign on education and infrastructure, while Casto has yet to specify his platform.

The Dallas mayor's election is next May.
