ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - Inspectors with the Texas Department of Agriculture found a credit card skimmer hidden on one of the pumps at a gas station in Arlington.

Inspectors notified Arlington Police to remove the device from the SmartMart Valero station at  652 West Randol Mill Road at the intersection with North Cooper Street.

Thieves install the skimmers to steal customers' credit card and debit card information.

The Texas Department of Agriculture says customers can reduce their risks by paying inside at the counter, checking for any signs of tampering at the gas pump, and using a cell phone to scan for unusual Bluetooth signals that the skimmers can use to transmit their data from the pump.
