ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - The city of Arlington is handing out sand bags to residents to help with flooding.

Arlington's Public Works Department is handing out free sandbags to residents who are trying to protect against flooding.

The sandbags are available at Arlington's North Operations Office from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 801 W. Main St.

Arlington says crews have handed out 20,000 sandbags since the rain started earlier this month and 2,000 on Monday alone.

"We've got a sunken-in driveway, just trying to protect the garage and the driveway," says one man who lives in Southwest Arlington who picked up sandbags Tuesday morning. "Just have a lot of flooding going on."

People who pick up sandbags will need to show their drivers license as proof they live in the City of Arlington. Sandbags are available Monday through Friday.
