City Of Dallas Activating Extended Heat Plan

May 31, 2018 - 5:52 am

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - With near-record high temperatures for May, the City of Dallas is activating its extended heat plan.

The city is preparing for what it calls a "level 2 heat alert" now through Saturday, with the possibility of daytime temperatures over 100 degrees and the night-time low not dipping below 80.

Several City of Dallas recreation centers will have water available for people seeking relief from the heat, along with additional cooling centers operated by the Salvation Army.

The City's Office of Emergency Management is advising people to avoid high physical activity during the hottest part of the day, to drink plenty of water, and to watch out for signs of heat-related illness such as dry mouth, fever and disorientation.
