DALLAS (KRLD) - Living and working in the same space could be a new opportunity in Dallas. The housing committee has decided to move the issue forward to the full council, who will rule on adding more live/work spaces within the city.

This would be an amendment to previous zoning laws. Many of these live/work spaces could be seen in the Design District, Deep Ellum, or other neighborhoods where artists often live or work already.

Several members of the housing committee say they'd be in favor of adding live/work spaces, to make it more convenient and even to help revitalize some neighborhoods.

If these live/work spaces become reality, the city says the living space can be no more than half the size of the workspace. It will also have to be registered with the city as a rental. The city council will take a more in-depth look at this issue in an upcoming meeting.
