FORT WORTH (KRLD) - A former contractor was sentenced to 47 years in prison Saturday after being found guilty of theft of property.

It took a Tarrant County jury less than an hour to convict 48-year-old Chad Alan Cappiello, also known as Chad Russell, on charges of stealing more than $58,000 from residents who were primarily elderly.

During the hearing it came to light that Cappiello had scammed residents on everything from new windows to complete room remodels.

Tarrant County D.A. confirmed that Cappiello had previous victims in Jasper, Bell and Hopkins Counties.

The former contractor admitted to refusing to honor terms of agreement after his victims signed remodeling contracts and paid half down. He was found guilty of theft of property and misappropriation of fiduciary funds against the elderly.
