DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A temporary restraining order has kept 9-year-old Payton Summons on life support since she went into cardiac arrest last week.

The attorney for Payton's family and attorneys for Cook Children's Medical Center are set to meet this afternoon to determine whether that restraining order will be extended.

Doctors have declared Payton legally brain dead, saying the damage is irreversible.

Her heart is still beating on its own, but she needs a ventilator to breathe.

Cook Children's has said there is no point in further treatment for Payton, but her parents have been looking for another facility that will continue her care.

The hearing is at 1:30 this afternoon.
