DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Due to today's weather, the Veteran's Day Parade in Dallas is not happening.

Organizers decided that temperatures combined with today's rain would present too great of a safety concern. There would be a lot of elderly people and kids watching and participating in the parade, and they are more susceptible to the cold.

Since the arrival of the near freezing temperatures over the weekend, several people have already been sent to the hospital for exposure. Emergency officials remind us to stay bundled up, and to check on any elderly or sick neighbors who may be affected by the cold.

Instead of a parade, veterans will be honored at an indoor ceremony. That starts at 11:00 a.m. at Dallas city hall.
