DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A south Dallas car wash is in the cross hairs of the Dallas city council.

Police have labeled Jim’s Car Wash on MLK a "high crime spot". So today, the city council voted 11-2 to send the matter to the Board of adjustment for possible closure, for violating zoning laws.

This nearby neighbor says the property is a blight on the community.

"I am always astounded why the council allows sub-standard properties like this to stick around. Our kids can't even walk by that area."

Another neighbor says the car wash is dangerous.

"I don't ever go down there. It scares me. I tell everyone one to avoid it," he said.

The owner of the carwash says he has tried to clean up the business and the crime there, but police have not given him any help.

The Board of Adjustment will use police reports, code compliance records and neighbors' testimony to decide whether the car wash has an adverse effect on the area.
