FRISCO (1080 KRLD) - Score another groundbreaking deal for Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys.

The football club Thursday announced a new partnership with WinStar World Casino and Resort in Oklahoma.  It is the first deal of its kind between an NFL team and a gambling establishment.

In announcing the partnership, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said, "The Dallas Cowboys take great pride in aligning themselves with the best brands in the world.  It is a privilege to stand shoulder-to-shoulder as partners with such a prominent entertainment brand like WinStar World Casino."

A Supreme Court ruling earlier this year opened the door for potential sports wagering in all states outside of Nevada, and the NFL reportedly has been looking for ways to get its piece of the anticipated pie.

Cowboys Insider Mike Fisher from 105.3 The Fan said it's another sign of the changing landscape in U-S professional sports, "For years, and I mean 40 years, the NFL has not understood this, and has not endorsed this, and has fought tooth and nail.  The argument being, 'We just don't want to associate with such a thing.'  But now, it's okay, because the NFL is associating with something it fully benefits from."

Full details of the Cowboys-WinStar partnership have not been disclosed.  Fisher said, "That will come seeping out eventually, but you know it's big."

During his 30 years in the NFL, Jones has been seen as a revolutionary for his historic deals with companies like Nike and Pepsi.
