DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Caroline Rose Hunt passed away last night after suffering a stroke two weeks ago. She was the daughter of wildcatter H.L. Hunt, whom the character of JR Ewing in the television show "Dallas" was reportedly based on.

However, Hunt was a legendary figure in her own right.

She pioneered the concept of uptown Dallas before it existed. She transformed the Mansion on Turtle Creek what it is today, and bought the land that now holds the Crescent Court.

Hunt was once named the richest woman in America, but gave generously to causes like the Junior League, United Way and the Dallas Arboretum.

She is survived by numerous family members, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are being arranged.
