Buses - Dallas ISD

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Barely two weeks into the school year, and Dallas ISD is searching for a new transportation director.

Kayne Smith bowed out of the chief job even as the district's new bus system struggles to find its feet. This is the first year for Dallas ISD to own and operate its own bus system, and there have been some growing pains.

The last few weeks have seen buses being late to pick up students and late to drop them off, according to reports.

Smith is now taking a job as transportation chief for Cypress-Fairbanks ISD near Houston. His family is still living in that area.

Dallas ISD has appointed an interim transportation chief as they search for Smith's replacement.
