Dallas ISD Will Ask Homeowners For Property Tax Increase This Fall

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Dallas ISD will ask homeowners for a property tax increase this fall.

The Dallas ISD school board approved the plan Thursday night, voting 7-1 in favor of a 13 cent increase.

Trustee Audrey Pinkerton says state funding has not kept up with the increasing cost of education.

Joyce Foreman was the only trustee to vote against the plan. She said property values have already jumped over the past few years so people are paying more even without an increase.

The property tax increase will go to voters in Dallas this fall and would cost the owner of the 'average' home in Dallas an extra $240 a year.
