DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Mayor Mike Rawlings will make his final 'State of the City' address today.

Mayor Rawlings is leaving office next year due to term limits.

The State of the City address is an opportunity for the Mayor to recap some of his successes from the past year and lay out his plans for the upcoming year.

Mayor Rawlings has used previous speeches to stress the need for economic development in south Dallas, highlight the number of corporations moving to the city, and to praise the city's response to the attack on Dallas police officers in 2016.

Last year, Mayor Rawlings used his State of the City address to call for a new plan for officials at City Hall, called the Goals for Dallas 2030 Plan. City staffers began work on that plan earlier this year.

Today's speech will be at the Hyatt Regency Dallas at 12:00 noon at a luncheon hosted by the Dallas Regional Chamber.
