DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The two candidates still in the running to be the next Mayor of Dallas will meet today for a debate.

Watch today's debate at 11:30 a.m. on KRLD.

It's the second of three debates this week between State Rep. Eric Johnson and City Council Member Scott Griggs.

They were the top two candidates in the May 4th general election out of a field of nine. Johnson got just over 20 percent of the vote while Griggs received just over 18 percent.

Johnson has represented Dallas in the Texas House of Representatives since winning a special election in 2010. Griggs has been on the Dallas City Council since 2011. Current Mayor Mike Rawlings is leaving office due to term limits.

Griggs' campaign has stressed his support for public safety and his experience on the City Council. Johnson has pointed to his accomplishments as a state legislator, where he says he has been able to work with people with different political views.

Today's debate takes place at 11:30am at the Building C Auditorium of  El Centro College in downtown Dallas. It will be streamed live on NBC 5 and broadcast on Sunday as part of the station's Lone Star Politics program.

The two candidates debated on Monday at a forum sponsored by the Dallas Bar Association.

They will meet for a third time on Thursday at a candidate forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters Dallas.
