DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A downtown Dallas office building that was built in the 1940's will be brought down on Saturday. The implosion for the 11-story office tower at 505 N. Ervay Street is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

The building is owned by the First Baptist Church of Dallas. It sits directly across the street from the church's main campus downtown. Church officials have said they need the space to accommodate their growing membership.

Several streets around the building will be blocked off ahead of the demolition - including parts of Pacific Avenue, North Field, San Jacinto and North Saint Paul Streets. Those closures will start at 6:00 a.m. Saturday and last through 10:00 a.m.

The implosion will create a loud noise and a large dust cloud. City officials say that dust cloud should dissipate in about five minutes. They're encouraging people who live near the demolition site to close their doors and windows before the implosion. DART trains in the region will also be held between 7:20 a.m. and 7:40 a.m.
