DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Two Dallas police officers and a civilian were injured in a crash on Interstate 35E overnight.

Police say an officer driving southbound saw someone speed past him about 2:00 a.m. Tuesday. The officer started following the driver into a construction zone at Empire Central.

Police say the driver rear-ended another police car that was shutting down the right lane in the construction zone. The first police officer then rear-ended the driver who had been speeding.

The chain reaction crash also involved a third police car and construction truck.

Two police officers and the suspect all went to the hospital, but they should survive.

Police plan to take a blood sample from the driver to see if he had been drinking.

I-35E reopened about three hours after the crash.
