DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Dallas police confirm the body of the missing 18-month-old has been found in a landfill and have made an arrest in his case.

Police say they have arrested 27-year-old Sederick Johnson, who is the boyfriend of the aunt, little Cedric Jackson was staying with when he disappeared.

An amber alert was issued Wednesday after Jackson's aunt reported the toddler missing.

Major Vincent Weddington says after a massive search, they questioned Johnson.

"He confessed that he had taken Cedric from the apartment and placed him in a dumpster. When police looked in the dumpster they discovered that Cedric's body was not there. Detectives then learned that the dumpster had been emptied at least twice in a landfill in Rowlett," Weddington says.

Police searched the Hinton Landfill and found the remains of a child they believe is that of Jackson. They are awaiting confirmation from the medical examiner as well as a cause of death.

Johnson, who has a lengthy criminal history, is charged with injury to a child serious bodily injury. However, based on the findings of the medical examiner, those charges could increase.

A motive for the crime is not yet known.
