DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The Catholic Diocese of Dallas says a priest may have molested at least three kids at his parish in Oak Cliff. Edmundo Paredes was pastor of St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Oak Cliff for 27 years.

Dallas Bishop Edward Burns says three men came to the diocese earlier this year and said they had been sexually abused as teenagers.

"The allegations were found to be credible," Burns says.

He says Paredes had already been suspended following an investigation that found he may have stolen between $60,000 and $80,000 from the parish.

Now, the diocese cannot find Paredes. The diocese has hired two private investigators who say he may have gone to his native Philippines, but authorities there have not found him.

Burns spoke at Masses at the parish this weekend, talking with churchgoers.

"If we are ever going to rebuild trust or regain credibility, those are bi-products of doing what is right," he says.

Burns says the Diocese of Dallas has also hired a researcher to review the grand jury's report from Pennsylvania.

"It is important to identify from the Pennsylvania grand jury's report where we can do better," he says.

Burns says St. Cecilia is now planning a "Service of Sorrow," and he will hold four town hall meetings at churches across the diocese to talk about sexual abuse.
