DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - An Uber driver has been arrested after police said he sexually assaulted a passenger during a trip last week.

Dallas Police booked 31-year-old Emeron Safa of Richardson into jail on Saturday, according to online court records.

Police said Safa picked up a woman at Union Station in Dallas and was supposed to drive her to Hutchins late Monday night. She said when they pulled over at a gas station, he put his hand into her shorts. She told detectives he stopped after she threatened to call police and he took her onto her original destination.

Uber said it takes accusations like this very seriously and it banned Safa immediately. It also said it is cooperating with Hutchins police in their investigation.

Earlier this month, another Uber driver was arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a woman he picked up from a church in Dallas.

Uber said it has invested in new technology and plans to roll out new safety features in the coming months, including a button that will connect to 911 immediately.
