Death Of Keller Man Accused Of Molesting Children Ruled A Homicide

November 08, 2018 - 5:32 am

FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - The death of a Keller man accused of molesting children a decade ago has been ruled a homicide.

Now 76, Clinton Simpson died at the Tarrant County Jail early Wednesday from what the Medical Examiner calls "blunt force injuries" of the head.

In 2007, a dozen children accused Simpson of molesting them when he ran "Mr. Don's Whistle Stop" which was a miniature train ride Simpson operated in his backyard.

He confessed to Keller police that he had, in fact, sexually assaulted at least 12 kids.

Although indicted in 2007, Simpson has repeatedly been declared incompetent to stand trial.

During the past decade, he has been frequently confined to state mental hospitals.

It's not clear why he was in the Tarrant County jail when he was fatally attacked.

Texas Rangers are investigating the case. The Department of Public Safety says David Flores, 42, assaulted Simpson around 2:20 Wednesday morning.

Flores has been charged with murder.
