DENTON (1080 KRLD) - A North Texas police chief is starting over in a new city.

Denton police chief Lee Howell is leaving to become the new police chief in Saginaw.

Howell has spent most of his career with the Denton police department. He rose through the ranks, serving as a patrol officer, field training officer, detective, sergeant, and lieutenant. He became chief in 2011.

Denton police also say that two deputy chiefs, Roger White and Scott Fletcher, have resigned too. It's not clear if those chiefs are headed elsewhere.

Denton police have yet to choose an interim chief. The city of Saginaw says Howell will start with them sometimes in August.
