You would think a young man would rush to help an older woman being attacked by dogs, but police in the Houston suburb of Cypress says 26 year old Nicholas Foley did the opposite.

In May, a 68 year old woman was walking through her neighborhood to her grandchildren's school to meet them and walk them home.  That's when a few dogs began biting her.

She hit them with her umbrella to fight them off.  Foley then ran up and sucker punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground.

Harris County Precinct Four constable Mark Herman says "He knew the owner of the dogs and basically went over there to defend the dogs."

The victim had lacerations and a broken shoulder, the result of being knocked down.  She had surgery.

Foley ran away, but witnesses were able to give police a description. The woman told police she saw Foley everyday when she walked to pick up her grandchildren. Deputies were able to compile a photo array and the suspect was positively identified.

His bond is set at $50,000 and he is charged with Injury to an Elderly Person.

The owner of the dogs was cited.
