DALLAS (1080 KRLD) -  Dallas County medical examiners believe a 22-year-old was alive when her SUV was set on fire.

22-year-old Sara Hudson was found in her burning SUV off Lower Greenville Avenue on Monday evening. Friday, the Dallas County medical examiners say she died from a gunshot wound to the head, but that smoke inhalation was a contributing factor. That means that she was still alive when her vehicle was set on fire.

Police arrested 49-year-old Glen Richter after surveillance video showed Hudson getting out of her SUV before Richter approached her, then forced her back into the vehicle. Police were able to gather fingerprints from two of the vehicle’s doors, which led them to Richter.

He has been charged him with capital murder with a million dollar bond.

According to family, Hudson was on her way to celebrate her 22nd birthday the day she was killed.
