DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - The family of the teenager who was killed outside a convenience store in the Pleasant Grove area of Dallas Tuesday evening says the store has become a hub for crime.

Malik Tyler was shot while he walked outside the store near Bruton Road and St. Augustine Drive.

Dallas police say someone in a passing car started shooting a group of people in the parking lot. They say Tyler was not involved; he was hit by a stray bullet.

A memorial to Tyler has been growing outside the apartment complex where his family lives.

"He was everything," Tyler's sister, Chaquarius Chaney, said. "I'll never get to hug my brother again."

Chaney says the family wants to see changes in the neighborhood.

"I want the store to be completely gone," she says. "They're going to keep doing the same stuff and then somebody else's child is going to be dead. That's not right."

Friday morning, the suspect remained in jail on $500,000 bond. Datrail Clayton, 21, has been charged with murder.
