DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - This weekend marks a tragic anniversary for a Dallas family, who lost their child in a gas explosion.

The girl, 12-year-old Linda Rogers, called Michelita, was killed one year ago. On February 23rd of last year, her family's northwest Dallas home exploded due to a natural gas leak.

Recent video released shows Michelita getting ready for the day early that morning, which included a big cheerleading competition. Only minutes after that video was taken, her life would be lost. Her family says they still struggle with her loss, and still dream of her.

The Rogers family is suing Atmos Energy, claiming there were no warning signs or smells that a natural gas leak had occurred. Atmos claims it has replaced almost 100 miles of old and rusted pipelines in Dallas since the tragic accident.

State representative Rafael Anchia, whose district covers northwest Dallas, has been pushing forward several bills to improve gas safety regulations ever since the accident.
