FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - The firm reviewing the Panther Island project in Fort Worth is out with its recommendations for changes.

Riveron noted that the project is actually three projects rolled into one -- flood control, recreation, and economic development.

As such, it recommends splitting up the oversight of each aspect, keeping flood control with the Trinity River Vision Authority, while transferring the recreation oversight to the Trinity River Water District and creating a new non-profit to oversee the economic development.

Mayor Betsy Price ordered the review after the project was bypassed for federal funding for the current fiscal year.

Also among the recommendations: Change the organizational structure and create a formal risk management office within the Trinity River Vision Authority.
