DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Other big cities across the world have them, and now Dallas does too.

The city's first hostel is now open for guests. It's called the Deep Ellum Hostel, and is located on Elm Street. It has 14 rooms, with 72 beds.

If you're not familiar with hostels, they're somewhere between a hotel and dormitory. They're well known as low budget options for a night's stay. The rooms are often dorm-style, with guests sharing space and being encouraged to interact.

The owners of the Deep Ellum Hostel say downtown Dallas is a great market for a hostel, since it's a big city served by two airports.

North Texas also boasts one other hostel in Irving.

Deep Ellum Hostel costs about $40 for a night's stay. The building includes a communal kitchen and dining room, restrooms and showers, and an in-house bar.

You can check it out Thursday at their grand opening party from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.
