Five North Texas Students Remain In National Spelling Bee Finals

DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - Five students from North Texas still have a chance to be crowned America's Best Speller.

After two days of grueling competition at the Scripps National Spelling Bee, only 41 finalists remain.

Of those left, five North Texas students are still in the running. They include Rohan Raja of Irving, Sohum Suhkatankar of Dallas, Karthik Nammani from McKinney, Naysa Modi of Frisco and Abhijay Kodali of Flower Mound.

Suhkatankar is in the National Bee for the second straight year, while Modi is competing for the fourth consecutive year.

The first portion of the finals begins this morning, the nationally-televised championship round is tonight.
