ARLINGTON (KRLD) - Arlington's Texas Live! development is hosting a New Year's Eve party Monday night, planning for up to 5,000 people to attend. Texas Live! opened in August, and developers are describing the event across from Globe Life Park as "the largest New Year's Eve event in Texas."

"We've got some big plans tonight," says Chief Operating Officer Jim Watry. "We've been looking forward to this all year. It's our first New Year's Eve. It's going to be a pretty special night."

Watry says Texas Live! will drop a ball the same size as the ball used in Times Square. The ball is 12 feet across and has 2008 LED lights. The ball was designed by 3Di Sign and Design in Arlington.

Texas Live! had a test run to make sure the ball would drop on cue Monday night.

"It's a lot of moving parts, a lot of guys are working very hard, but we've been specializing on throwing the party since we opened in August," Watry says. "We're just gearing it a little more toward the New Year's Eve experience."

Tickets range from $30 to $1,150.

Texas Live! will shoot fireworks from its plaza. The fireworks will be visible from parking lots outside Globe Life Park and AT&T Stadium. Parking in those lots will be free.
