DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A former member of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders is taking the team to court.

Erica Wilkins was a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader for three seasons, she is now suing for what she claims is unfair pay and labor practices.

Wilkins says the Cowboys did not compensate her time and a half for all the overtime hours and special events she worked while on the cheer team.

Wilkins tells NBC5 that while she was on the team she was afraid to speak up for herself.

Wilkins also claims in the lawsuit that Cowboys cheerleaders are paid less than the team's mascot Rowdy, and that as professionals and as women, they deserve equal pay.

The Cowboys have declined to comment on the lawsuit.
