DALLAS (1080 KRLD) - A former Uber driver has been sentenced to prison up for sexually assaulting a passenger.

Reports say 59-year old Talal Ali Chammout will be locked-up for 25-years for assaulting a woman nearly three years ago.

The sentence is actually above the normal maximum for the charge, enhanced, prosecutor Trey Stock says, because Chammout had been to prison once before.

That prior conviction apparently slipped through the cracks when Chammout was given a permit to drive for Uber, something that's the subject of a civil suit.

The woman who was attacked had used Uber in 2015 after a night out because she was allegedly too tipsy to drive.

Police say Chammout took advantage of that situation.
