FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - A Fort Worth school bus driver and bus attendant have resigned, after leaving a special needs kindergartner on a school bus all day.

Fort Worth ISD has just put out an apology for the incident, which happened a couple of weeks ago. The child was alone on the bus for about 5 hours. The driver and attendant were responsible for doing a full sweep of the bus to check that every seat was empty. However, video from the bus shows them doing only a quick scan.

The child was discovered still on the bus in the early afternoon, when the driver and attendant came back to start the afternoon route. The child was immediately reunited with the family, and did not need any medical attention.

There's a chance the driver and attendant could face charges. Other drivers for Fort Worth ISD will now be re-trained to make sure this doesn't happen again.
