Fort Worth To Name New Fire Chief

July 18, 2018 - 7:38 am

FORT WORTH (1080 KRLD) - Fort Worth will name a new fire chief Wednesday morning.

Fort Worth's last fire chief, Rudy Jackson, retired in February. The city had named six finalists, and will name an assistant fire chief from Columbus, Ohio as the new chief later this morning.

Jim Davis joined the Columbus Fire Department in 1988. Davis will likely take over the Fort Worth job later this summer.

Davis put out a statement saying Fort Worth has a small town feel within a rapidly growing community, and that growth can give a fire chief great opportunities to lead the organization into the future by building strong partnerships.

The Fort Worth Fire Department has almost a thousand members and a $145 million annual budget.
