FORT WORTH (KRLD) - Fort Worth Police officer Garret Hull passed away last night.

This is a developing news story.

A Fort Worth police officer is in critical condition after being shot in a late night gunfight.

Fort Worth Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald said Friday afternoon that "there is no change" in officer Garrett Hull's condition after he was shot in the head. Fitzgerald added that Hull's family is currently by his side and that officers are at the hospital to support their collegue and friend.

Police say Hull was shot in the head as he and other officers were chasing several armed robbery suspects.

The incident occurred at the El Vaquero sports bar on Biddison near I-35. Chief Joel Fitzgerald says other officers shot back, killing the gunman.

Two other suspects ran off but were quickly found and arrested. They're believed to be responsible for a series of robberies across North Texas. Fitzgerald says they are currently interviewing those suspects.

Officer Hull was loaded into a police car and sent to the hospital because he was too injured to wait for an ambulance.

Mayor Betsy Price is asking for prayers for Officer Hull and his family and all first responders. She called officer Hull a hero.
